Hello Families and Caregivers

My favorite Friday of every month is when we have our whole school Morning Meeting assembly. This month’s assembly was hosted by our school counselor, Mrs. Gutierrez, who tied in information from the week of respect. Our kindergarteners led us in singing, “It’s About Respect, Check it Out, Check it Out,” and we listened to the story “The Sandwich Swap” which addressed appreciating differences. Do you know what makes you unique?

  • After School Enrichment: ASE began on Monday to rave reviews. Students are excited about the many offerings. Thank you to our amazing PTA for making ASE possible.

  • Mindful Education Summit: There’s still time to register. The Awake Network is providing a free Mindful Education Summit starting October 16th. While most of their webinars are geared toward Mindfulness in education, it is chock full of tips that are universal to engaging and communicating with children. Click here to register for free.

  • Special presentation: Thursday, October 17th, Maria Russo, Children’s Book Editor of the New York Times Book Review, and author of the new best selling book, How to Raise a Reader, will kick off the Watchung Booksellers’ Book Fair with a presentation and discussion at 6:30pm. Childcare will be provided. Please RSVP to to reserve a childcare spot.

  • Pancake Breakfast: REMEMBER, our PTA Father’s Group will be donning their chef hats on October 19th at 8:00 am and cooking up batches of their famous pancakes. Come to the Bullock cafeteria hungry! Not a pancake person? Don’t worry, there’s COFFEE! Please remember to bring your own thermos to enjoy a delicious brew! Also, the Watchung Booksellers book sale will be up and running, so take a moment to go up to the library and select some good reads. So you know, it is a fundraiser for the fourth grade camping trip.

  • Halloween Costumes: Thank you for the donations of gently used costumes that have been coming in. We are still in need of larger sizes please.

Looking ahead:

Monday, October 14th: Staff Professional Development; no school for students

Thursday, October 17th: Book Fair kick-off Presentation, 6:30pm in the library
