Dear Families and Caregivers,

Field Day 2019 done! How lucky are we to have had such beautiful weather for our “all day” field day. Thank you to our PTA and all the parent volunteers who came out to lend a hand. We could not have done it without you. If you went home with a green CHB Volunteer t-shirt, please wash it and send it back to school when you can. We extend special thanks to our gym teachers, Mr. Corbosiero and Mr. DeMaio, for all the thought that went into planning and executing this hugely successful field day.

Montclair Bounce – A Festival of Optimism and Resilience: CHB students gladly joined in to support this collaborative project of Toni’s Kitchen and the YMCA of Montclair. They decorated flags with words and symbols that represent things, people, places or experiences that make them feel happy. You can see our “Happy Flag” garden planted all around our school’s playground, along our Secret Garden fence on Elm Street and in the planters outside of the school.

Mark your calendar for a Title I Parent Summit: “When Outcomes Matter: Helping Students Have a Voice in Their Education.” On June 8th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, Montclair Public Schools will host a number of information sessions for parents at Charles H. Bullock School. Please see the attached flyer for information on the offerings and how to register to attend.

Spring Concert:
Our spring concert is just around the corner on June 4th at 7:00 pm. As in years past, we want to take the opportunity to collect non-perishables for Toni’s Kitchen that night. There will be a box in the main hallway and no glass jars please.

Summer Recharge at The Academy:
Does your 5th grader need some recharging after their final elementary school year? Look no further than Montclair Public Schools’ “Summer Recharge at The Academy.” There are two sessions being offered in July where students will get to reset for the summer. See the attached flyer for more details.

Fall ASE – N
ote from After-School Enrichment (ASE) Committee: We are already gearing up for the fall and working to identify people who could share their skills and talents with our students as ASE instructors. Do YOU have a hobby/passion/skill that you would be interested in sharing through an ASE class this fall? If so, we would like to hear from you now. You must be available one afternoon (3:25 PM to 4:30 PM) a week for 10 weeks this fall. We pay our instructors. If you might be interested, or have any questions at all, please reach out to Sarah Hudson-Plush.

Law Enforcement Torch Run: CHB will again be supporting Montclair Police as they join the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics. If your child would like to participate, please contact the office so we can send home a registration form. The date of the run is the morning of June 7th. Even if your child doesn’t want to run, but wants to support our local law enforcement officers and the Special Olympics, you can complete the form with your donation. Every little bit helps.

Looking Ahead:
