Cafeteria

Above: Finally, students have a dedicated cafeteria.

Below: The gymnasium stretches up to the full height of the building.

Below left: Holes in the tubes stretching across the gym ceiling manage the heating and cooling of the huge room.
Below right: Specially constructed concrete blocks muffle the echoes that too often make school gym and stage events a trial to listeners.

Baffles and HVAC

Below: Bullock's stage, with its sophisticated speakers and lighting, is fully set up for any events the teachers and students can devise.

Below: After 17 floodings at the previous facility, Bullock now has a library on the second floor. The 13,000 books (and the stuffed toys) from the previous facility now reside in a huge open room filled with natural light. At the back is a roomful of professional literature for the staff.

Below: The bathrooms are fully set up with motion detectors to turn on the lights, the faucets, and the hand-dryer as well as to flush the toilets.

Below: Electronic keyboards (and headphones) from the old school line the walls of the new music room.

At right: The shining new kiln in the art room annex awaits its first small clay handprints.

There are two Exploration Zones. The habitat of this one, below, on the second floor, will be the Australian desert to complement the Bearded Dragon Lizard who will live there, feasting on food grown especially for her under lights. Another Exploration Zone on the first floor will become a local habitat for the younger children to study.

2nd-floor Exploration Zone

Below: The entire school roof is lined with hundreds of south-facing solar panels, filled with photovoltaic cells. The DC current is converted to AC in the mechanics room, and fed into the school's electric supply. Not shown is the pump house outside the school that manages the heat supplied from deep in the ground. The geothermal system cools the building as well as heating it. It uses liquid-filled tubes, cooled to 54 degrees Fahrenheit (cave temperature.)
